Fountainhead Essay Scholarship by Ayn Rand Foundation
When thinking about getting a scholarship from the Ayn Rand Foundation, it is important to consider what is required. You must write an essay which is to be submitted by a certain date in order to qualify for the scholarship money. The first prize winner will receive $10,000 in scholarship money to be used for completing their education and receiving a degree. The 5 second prize winners will each receive $2,000. Ten third prize winners will get $1,000 each. The forty five finalists will get $100 each and the 175 semifinalists will get $50 each.
There are three different topics you can choose from when it comes to the essay you write to get the scholarship money. The topics will be related to famous literature and how you interpret it. It is highly suggested that you choose carefully, as the topic you select will determine just how good your essay will be. You should choose one which will be easy for you to write on. Remember that with an essay such as this, judges look for quality versus quantity, though it should still be long enough to qualify.
The judging of each essay will be based on both the content and style of the papers. Each judge will be checking each paper for accuracy and clear development of thoughts. In order to become one of the winners, you must show a profound grasp on “The Fountainhead”, specifically the topic you have chosen for your essay. It’s a fascinating book about individuality and capitalism that has sparked many debates. You will be required to demonstrate a philosophical grasp on the literature in order to qualify as a finalist or semifinalist. There are four different rounds to the judging process, each of which is completely unbiased and objective.
Until each essay has been officially ranked and finalized, judges do not learn the names of those who submit the essays. There are of course some rules and stipulations which must be adhered to in order to qualify for the scholarship money. There is no application process, meaning that anyone around the world can qualify for this scholarship, as long as all of the requirements for the essay are met. Everyone who enters into the content must be in either 11th or 12th grade. There must be a cover sheet attached with each paper, including name/address, email address, and the name/address of the school you attend. Once you have all the information put together you will be able to mail it in and wait for the results to be processed.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella [VHS] $9.95 A guilty, guilty pleasure, perhaps not one a left-wing feminist should be admitting to in public. Female boomers should recall yearly TV reruns of this Rodgers and Hammerstein production, featuring such delights as “Impossible” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?” It may appear a bit stark to younger viewers, but part of the charm of this 1964 network TV special, a remake of the live 1957… |

Babes in Arms [VHS] $10.98 This quintessential Mickey Rooney-Judy Garland musical has all the kinetic energy and beaming goofiness that made their films together (nine in all) so popular–and so easy to lampoon. The son of a vaudeville performer (Charles Winninger), Rooney decides to put on his own show (in a barn!) to save his family’s fortune, his town, his peers, and, gosh darn it, even the American way of life. The star… |

The Fountainhead [VHS] $7.89 Exhibiting a darker edge to his hero persona, the strapping Gary Cooper has the (Frank Lloyd) Wright stuff as architect Harold Roark, a “fool visionary” who refuses to conform his artistic ideas to popular taste. His inflexibility makes enemies out of a tabloid architecture critic and a tycoon (Raymond Massey), who proclaims, “All men can be bought… there are no men of integrity.” Keating (Kent … |
