Sarah Graham Paints in Memory of Friend

Sarah Graham revealed that she created a painting in honour of her recently deceased best friend.

The Hitchin-born painter announced on her Facebook page that her best friend Lisa Sabine’s battle with illness inspired her to create the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ painting earlier this year.

Sarah Graham told her Facebook fans: “I painted ‘Alice in Wonderland’ earlier this year, I can now explain that it represesented my dear, beautiful friend Lisa Sabine, who on 10/10/10 passed away after a long battle with illness.

“She touched my life so deeply, her piercing blue eyes, and blond hair always reminded me of Alice. It was also the last painting Lisa saw in my studio. It’s you darling, may you dream forever more in your Wonderland.”

Lisa Sabine passed away aged 41, leaving behind a mother, sister, daughter and numerous friends.

Her funeral will be held at Harwood Park Crematorium in Stevenage and donations to the Garden House Hospice are welcomed for everyone who wants to pay their respects.

Artica Gallery, part of the Castle Galleries group, announced that it would exhibit Alice in Wonderland from Thursday October 14th, which Sarah Graham said was perfect timing.

Three Sarah Graham prints were featured in Artica’s top ten best selling Limited Editions of 2010 including Lollipop Carousel, Found My Marbles and Somewhere over the Rainbow.

Sarah Graham prints including ‘Drink Me’ featuring two Cola bottles, ‘Sweet Mayhem’ showing penny sweets tumbling from a jar and ‘Mirror Ball’ were recently on display at The Autumn Fair at the Birmingham ICC.

Chupa Chups lollipops, pick ‘n’ mix sweets, children’s toys such as dolls and robots and fashionable cars like Minis and VW camper vans regularly appear in Sarah Graham prints.

The painter is currently signed to fine art publishers Washington Green and marketing director Samantha Jackson expects Sarah Graham prints to become popular with a new generation of art lovers.

Ms Jackson told the Metro: “We expect Sarah’s work to connect with a whole new generation of people looking for a highly original style of art to decorate their walls.”

Sarah Graham’s obsession with bright, colourful sweets was inspired by her first job as an assistant on Woolworth’s pick’n'mix counter where she worked before graduating with a degree in fine art from Leicester’s De Montfort University in 2000.

Following graduation, Sarah Graham became more established as an artist and enjoyed exhibitions in international locations such as New York, Melbourne and Sydney.

James Newton Howard reportedly got the King Kong gig as a last-minute replacement for Howard Shore (who of course had worked on King Kong director Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings series). The good news is that Howard still managed to write an honorable score; the bad news is that it’s no more than honorable. For some, the biggest disappointment may be that Howard didn’t find more inspiration in …
